Looking Forward

Wow, can't believe I've already been here for almost four months! I've learned so much, and been trained in many different internal positions. Today I may even be floor directing for our headline news! (I'm never on the production team because I'm always in that prison they call a school).

Earlier this week I actually started fulfilling Jenny and Shay's positions for ingesting GRITtv tapes. I've learned a lot from watching those as well, I think it's important for me to stay in touch with the world and voices that may be left unheard without networks like us to document them. The list of GRITtv tapes is quite hefty, I'm about a fifth of the way through I'd say, but that includes the videos I've had to "disqualify" from the race. So if anyone ever has spare time between projects or production, feel free to help us get these over to Tik and eventually on the air! It's simple, Lauren or I can show you if anyone is interested.

I think this new task of mine is actually my favorite, I love working with final cut, and it's exciting to get a preview of short clips that are television bound on the FSTV network. One in particular stuck out to me, it was a short about communities of colored people that seem to be singled out by authorities, and executed through cruel and unrealistic punishment. It was interesting to hear the three personal stories mentioned in the clip, that otherwise I never would have known about.

Also, did everyone get that forward about media that matters? It's something I've been thinking about lately, and I'd really like to brainstorm for a film to submit. If anyone is interested, let me know, I've got my own equipment and all that good stuff.

I have so much to look forward to for the next few months, it may be hectic, but I can't even think about summer yet! So many projects, and then Boston!

  1. I'm glad you are enjoying the many roles we like to fill here. There is quite a lot to do these days. Yes the ever daunting task of GRITtv tapes. They are amazing to watch and we need new filler material, so I'm glad you are enjoying the task. And yes you should totally do the Media that Matters Film Festival. Some of the shorts I have seen are quite amazing. Let me know if you need help!
