It's actually terrifying to realize I've already finished up 6 months here at FreeSpeechTV. I remember how excited and nervous I was the day of my interview, I had even brought a friend along who waited for me in the car, and afterwords I came running back down Welton to tell her the news that I was then an intern. Now what? All I can do is paraphrase my time here, thank you guys for the experiences I've gained, and offer just a few pieces of advice for new interns. I'll also try to make it short and sweet.
Prior to my internship I had only worked 9-5 customer service jobs. Although I mastered a few skills, none of them were really relevant to what I actually want to do with my life. When I started working here, I gained confidence because I saw that my efforts were placed somewhere that was valued by an abundant audience. Not only that, but the message that was sent has always been progressive, and quite literally powered by the people. The knowledge I've gained from watching countless documentaries and listening to endless news stories has been utterly humbling. The dynamic I've absorbed will last a lifetime, learning a variety of technical skills as well as an awareness of how the world really works around me and how I can virtually play a part that is beneficial to all.
I'm so thankful to have had this opportunity and meet such a versatile, well-rounded group of people. I really hope to stay in touch with all you interns, as well as our superiors in the building. Please let me know if there's ever a project I can lend a helping hand to, I strive for variety in my working experiences. My new job is only Tuesdays through Thursdays, and I plan on dropping in a few times over summer on a Monday or Friday. I wish all of you the best on whatever you wish to pursue, I'm confident that our internships have given us a strong background and prepared us with many assets that will follow us through our careers. I'll miss you guys, everyone have a healthy and adventurous summer!
Also, for newer interns, don't be afraid to pitch ideas! The FSTV crew will actually listen to you and appreciate creative and innovative energy! It will get you noticed!
