Hello,
Weston and I did Your Voice Here at D.U. yesterday and I think we got some really good interviews. The topic was "Slut Walks", a nation wide effort to protest the response of police agencies to victims of sexual assault. The cops in California had apparently told victims of assault to not dress so promiscuously in order to avoid assault. This was a great topic to do on a university campus because young people, especially women, are faced with this issue all the time. I believe the statistic is one in four female college students have been the victim of this kind of assault. This issue is not only relevant to the interviewees but they tend to be well informed and educated at colleges and universities, making for intelligent responses. I would like to start doing the YVH's in different and more appropriate locations since the location makes such an impact on the quality of interviews in regards to the topic. D.U., Metro, maybe Colfax, the antique district on Broadway. These are a few that could prove fruitful. Well, that's what's on my mind today.
Peace
Mark
That was some great insight Mark. I'm glad you and Weston were able to go out and shoot about this topic. I was able to cut together some footage from the walk, and it was pretty intense. Especially on the campus, I'm sure you got some great interviews. I look forward to seeing them!
